a quick supplement.

First off, I found out that there might be some issues with the spam protection set up in the comments. I have it set so it flags the comment for having three or more links. Apparently spammers put in lots of links. Despite this, it caught one of moldytoaster’s comments that had only one link. Why? Not sure, but if you post a link and it doesn’t show, well, don’t panic. I’ll be micromanaging this site as best as possible at the start so I’ll make sure to release them so everyone can read what you have to say!

Also, I thought I’d add a bit to the core competency article. I love it when the articles have a message for me just as much as anyone! See, as anyone who knows me well knows, I’m a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan, and I’ve supported the team a lot since I’ve been in Australia. I grew the playoff beard, wore the shirts, listened to the games, talked about the Pens. Last Thursday, I put on my playoff shirt (thanks Madelyn!) and went to the casino to watch Game 3…which they won! I had a great morning in the city. It was a beautiful day and I had lunch at a joint on the Yarra River and the sun was out but the weather was cool enough that it was quite pleasant. I came home in a good mood and wanted to be nice to the housemates, show them some love, so I washed all of their dishes.

My one housemate said to me while I was cleaning: “Oh, you’re just in a good mood because the Penguins won.”

Ouch.

He didn’t even realize it, but he cut me. Here I am trying to show God’s love, and it gets confused for euphoria over a silly game that I enjoy.

If you’ve read the article, you’ll (hopefully) know what I mean when I say that the burgers shouldn’t be getting more glory than the pancakes on my menu.

So I’m going to the game in the one Christian t-shirt that I own tomorrow. I’m keeping the beard (I thought I wanted to shave it but as I approached the door to go do it I totally choked. I have two months invested in this thing!), but I want to be a Christian first when I’m there. Not condemning the Pens shirts I have, I merely want to make sure that my priorities are in place and that I don’t come off as too obsessive.

Enjoy the rest of the articles!
Brendan
