on the internet: obama and religion

Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t really like to talk politics in a Christian realm. I really don’t even like arguing politics much anymore, preferring civil discussions and the “agree to disagree” thing.

So I’m not endorsing a candidate here. Truth be told, I don’t know who I will be voting for in the fall. The primary was about character because the issues were the same; that’s why I chose the candidate that I did. Now that McCain and Obama differ on issues, they will factor into my decision process more.

Obviously, the issue of religion is important to me. It’s not the only issue, but I want to hear what these guys have to say about their faith. You might be like this too; if that’s the case, then take 40 minutes of your time and watch this video, an Obama speech given in 2006. I think it’s a fascinating listen and, though I don’t completely agree with the premise, I think it’s a reasonably fair manner to approach religion and politics.

Since Dr. Dobson of Focus on the Family chose to berate Obama for his views, citing the speech that I just linked, I thought it’d be good to watch the whole thing and make my own decisions. I encourage you to do the same.
