on the internet: outsiders’ views of us
Since I’m an author of a Christian site and I want to be mindful of sensitive believers, I will warn that the links I am putting in are a bit rough, crude, offensive, etc.
But I’m posting a link to this site because I want you to see what American Evangelical Megachurch Christianity looks like to the unbeliever. While we can’t be defined by our critics, while we’re not all worthy of the satire we get at this site, and while some people will never truly understand God (1 Corinthians 2:14), there is a lot of validity to what is thrown at us. If you click here, you’ll see the first page from the site that I read, and to me, it seems like the author does have a sense of what Christianity should look like. He also has a sense of how people have twisted it and made it about other stuff.
I think it’s important that we know how people perceive us, because I think that real Christianity does have a bit of an image problem. The site doesn’t really have benefit beyond that, but there are some lessons to be learned here.
