on the internet: prosperity gospel and the economic climate
After talking about worldy people can’t understand the things of God, this article might not resonate much with anyone. But since Time Magazine seems to have a keen interest in prosperity theology, and since that’s one of my topics this week, I thought I’d give it a plug here.
This article looks at how adherents to prosperity theology might have taken advantage of subprime mortgages and thus included themselves in this financial mess. It’s not the best article in terms of quality; it’s a lot of speculation. But it highlights the fact that a prosperity theology has prospered in a prosperous economy, and it’s interesting to see how everything holds up if times start to get really tough.
