i learned a lesson about islam
The event that sparked this happened a few weeks ago, but I wanted to post it because I thought it was an interesting revelation.
There’s a news blog that I read called The Daily Beast. There was an article concerning Islam - the content was irrelevant, but it prompted a Muslim person to make this comment:
In Islam there are no luxuries like Christains enjoy in their religion. Christains have changed the Holy Bible from time to time as to keep it update and fashionable…the Holy Quran is the purest form of a religious book revealed by God thru angel Gabriel to Prophet Mohammad PBUH. (PEACE BE UPON HIM). It is intended to be the purest and it is God’s promise. Sorry to disappoint Mr Wilder. The christains think that Islam is some sort of anti christ religion…well, it is not. Muslims believe in all prophets, Noah, Moses, David, Jesus and ofcourse Mohammad. Muslims respect Jesus and love Jesus even more than Christains do….its just that they dont use bumper stickers on cars to show that deep love….look at comedy central…they make living on telling disgusting jokes on Jesus and Bible..Moses and his nation being thrown in dessert for 40 years…to them everything is a joke…so its this kind of breed that has no respect for their own religion or another religion for that matter. All they want from life is to get drunk, committ adultery, gamble and drink again…dont bring up the 10 commantments…it will ruin the party for them.
There were a couple of things that I could talk about, but tt was the line about Comedy Central that really caught my eye. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that if you go down the lineup of shows on Comedy Central, you’ll find a lot of committed Christians.
It made me realize that in some parts of the world, people don’t (maybe can’t?) separate America from Christianity. Can you blame them? There are people who live in countries where they are run by Muslim clerics. The state is Muslim and the culture is Muslim. The concept of freedom of religion is not a universal one, and I think it’s easy for us to forget about that!
I don’t think there’s a point to this…just something I realized and wanted to share.
Cheers,
Brendan

I see a point….we should try our best to make sure our culture as Christians is being separate (sanctified perhaps?!) from that ‘American’ culture of hypocrisy that this muslim is talking about.

So does that mean that Christians should ditch the two big political parties?

When I see a food place that says, “BBQ” I expect BBQ to be on the menu. Same as Chicken, Italian food, or Chinese food.
When I picture the word Islam, Muslim, or Moslem, the word picture that comes to my mind is Men on their knees, faces to the floor praying.
Now, Jesus repeated the OT saying, “My house shall be a house of prayer for the nations.”
But when I picture the word Christian or Church, I visualize everything but people praying.
