I love the emphasis given on light here!

Light is so many different things; light can be extremely powerful. The speed of light is 186,000 mph and it has the ability to not only grant life but to take it as well. It can scorch the earth and our bodies. Light given from the sun can be a great reminder of abuse by a simple sunburn or can be the comfort and restoration our bodies need. I know that when I am sick it feels wonderful and refreshing when I can stand outside and the sun heats up my body.

For these many reasons I love that Jesus refers to himself as the Light of the world. It is something that everyone can understand because we are all dependent upon it, like you pointed out. Our God is fast, strong, can give and take away, He can restore, refresh and burn.

The importance of light is very clear when the first thing God creates in His creation story is light. There could be a connection with God being the beginning and light being the first. Overall man, I really liked this article about the Light of God. It speaks on several different levels and gives you a lot to think about afterwards.
